Where do the prices come from?
From GOV.UK Fuel Finder, the government's fuel price service. 8,079 stations are currently listed here. We aren't a government service.
How up to date are they?
GOV.UK says prices are published within 30 minutes of a change, and we check every 15 minutes. So a change should normally appear within about 45 minutes. See how current the data is now.
Why does a price say it changed weeks ago?
Stations report when a price changes, so a date shows the last change. An old date can be correct if the price has stayed the same, or it can mean a station has stopped reporting. Prices unchanged for over 30 days are listed separately and don't count towards typical prices.
Why might a price be wrong?
Prices come from stations and can include mistakes or delays, so always check at the pump. Prices that differ sharply from nearby stations are kept out of the rankings and marked "may be out of date". Every station has a "Wrong price?" link, which helps us spot problems.
Why isn't the cheapest price always first?
The big price at the top is the cheapest recent price at a station that should be open now. A closed station, or one with unclear hours, stays in the list but can't be the top pick. Nor can Costco, as you need a membership.
Is it worth driving further for cheaper fuel?
Only if you save more than the extra fuel costs. Where we know your location, results compare the cheapest station with the nearest open one. You can also use the calculator with your own figures.
What is the cheapest day to buy fuel?
We can't say yet. Our daily record of prices only began in November 2026, which is too short to show a reliable pattern. We'll only publish an answer once our data supports one.
How much of the price is tax?
Duty is 52.95p a litre, and VAT is 20% on top. See today's breakdown.
Do you need my location?
No. You can search by postcode or town instead. If you do allow it, your position is rounded to about 1km before it leaves your device. Read the privacy notice.
Can I save stations without an account?
Yes. Tap Save station on any station page. The list stays on your device and appears on your saved stations page.
